A chimpanzee in Dundundun Zoo

Dundundun Zoo is a zoo situated in the city of Dundundun. It is known for its tiny, poorly built enclosures, animals with terrible health conditions, overpriced food and a notorious incident in which a gorilla named Harem Bee grabbed Harry Smith before destroying most of the zoo. It is currently in disrepair, though some enclosures remained unharmed. When it reopens in November 2016, the zoo will be in a better condition, along with better care of the animals.

It is considered a lot worse than Funton Zoo, which is considered the best zoo on Volcanus.

Shooting of Harem Bee[]

In Harry Smith Goes to Dundundun Zoo, a silverback gorilla named Harem Bee was shot dead after grabbing Harry Smith, attempting to fight him and subsequently destroying most of the zoo, letting many animals loose.

The incident has been labelled by many animal rights activists as unnecessary and cruel, with some claiming a tranquiliser dart would have been a perfectly reasonable choice in the situation. The zoo do not regret shooting him dead, and have stated a tranquilliser dart would have taken longer.

Harem Bee has also become a running internet meme, much to the anger of the zookeepers. They have refused to name a recently born gorilla after him. In August 2016, a man started a petition to make him a Poke Mum character; it has received around 130,000 signatures so far.

Allegations of cruelty []

Most of the enclosures in Dundundun Zoo are extremely small and poorly built, with some walls and fences wobbling upon being leant or pushed against. It is thought that this is the reason Harem Bee managed to break out of his cage.

In addition, most of the animals are in poor health, and have been purchased from circuses and inbred litters. The zoo has been reported to inbreed its animals further, resulting in deformities in the offspring, which usually die early.

Trivia[]

  • Harem Bee and his shooting is based on the real life gorilla Harambe, who was shot dead in May 2016.
